On the Road Again: Eat More Plants When Dining Out
With farming and food production ‘the way it is done’ in the US, it’s no doubt that more and more people are stepping up and declaring veganism as their new eating style as well as their religion. It’s evident that the plant-based food movement is in full swing. Michael Pollan, journalist, author, producer and food advocate, and known for his best-selling books, including Food Rules: An Eater’s Manual and In Defense of Food: An Eater’s Manifesto, tells us to “Eat food. Not too much. Mostly plants.” Meaning choose real food, don’t overeat and choose mostly plant-based options. Whatever you choose to eat, please know plants contain tons of protein so you don’t have to fret if you’re just making a transition.
For those just starting out or even seasoned vegans, the concern is always whether vegan dining can be as varied and versatile as omnivore eating, especially when we’re on the road and away from our familiar surroundings. As with any food choices, there can be challenges, but there is much to be discovered and enjoyed along the way.
